an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected.
It would be ironic if after Jett learned to sleep through the night, he caught a cold which plugged up his nose and wouldn't allow him to sleep through the night. It would be ironic if after bragging about Jett's ability to sleep through the night, we were back to middle of the night and wee-hour of the morning nursings.
That would be ironic, and I live in an ironic world.
